Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie has been revealed as the Premier League player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by an agent in north London last September.
The incident reportedly took place on 6 September in Cockfosters, Barnet, while Udogie was out with a friend during the international break. Police said an agent allegedly brandished a firearm and also made blackmail threats toward Udogie’s companion. The suspect, who is not Udogie’s agent, was arrested two days later on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent, blackmail, and driving without a licence. He has been released on bail while investigations continue.
Udogie, 21, did not miss any football following the alleged incident and featured for Spurs a week later against West Ham.
A Tottenham spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment further.”
Police confirmed no one was injured and that inquiries remain ongoing.
