Tottenham are not close to matching Arsenal’s willingness to spend £100m on a single player, according to head coach Frank, who signalled the club will take a more measured approach in the transfer market.
Spurs have undergone major changes following Daniel Levy’s removal as chair and the installation of a new leadership team by the Lewis family. While there are ambitions to grow the club’s business and on-field success, Frank believes a long-term strategy built on development and smart investment is more realistic than blockbuster signings.
He said Spurs are not currently in a position to spend £100m on one player, though he did not rule it out in the long term. Arsenal’s £105m signing of Declan Rice was cited as a benchmark, while Tottenham’s record purchase remains Richarlison for £60m in 2022.
Frank stressed the importance of developing existing players rather than relying solely on expensive transfers, pointing to Liverpool and Manchester City as examples of clubs that built success through a mix of development and targeted recruitment. He also highlighted the value of signing players at the right age and stage of development.
Despite the cautious stance, Spurs have received a £100m cash injection from the Lewis family, with further funding expected. Frank said he is confident the board is fully committed to backing the club’s long-term ambitions and supporting efforts to build a successful team.
